ACE Inaugural Lecture: Don Advocates Interest as major factor in admission to study Mathematics The Chairman, Committee of Deans and Dean School of Science, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Dr. Folorunsho Balogun has on Thursday 13 th  July 2017 advocated that tertiary institutions should considered the interest of candidates before admitting them for the study of mathematics. Dr. Balogun, a Pure and Applied Mathematician made this call while delivering the 4 th  Inaugural Lecture of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo held at Olusegun Obasanjo on the topic “Mathematics: A dread ‘Enemy’ Yet an Indispensable Friend”. Amazing! Nigerian primary school elects prefects through democratic process

It was indeed an interesting and amazing exercise to be experienced in a primary school setting. In the week preceding the school prefects election, visitors and parents witnessed the democratic wind in the serene environment of the school with the students posters and flyers pasted outside and inside the school compound. "As a parent, I found it very interesting to have my son returned home and brought a form which must be signed and attest to it with his photograph for him to be elected as band prefect of the school and this form also must be endorsed by at least a teacher in the school" remarked a parent. In fact, not just any student too can contest!  Any interested student must have a minimum 60% point at the last promotion to primary six. It was noteworthy to remark that the contestants were also asked to prepare for manifesto. The good side of this exposure for the students is to also have sense of belongings in the democratic process of our noble country later...
